Message from the Director of J-PARC Center to Users

Re: Radioactive Contamination Accident at the Hadron Experimental Facility of J-PARC

 

Dear J-PARC Users,

As many of you will have already heard, a radiation contamination accident occurred at the Hadron Experimental Facility on May 23 2013. As a result, all the accelerators and experimental facilities at J-PARC are being shut down until further notice.

J-PARC is currently working closely with other JAEA and KEK staff and stakeholder organizations to determine the cause(s) of this accident. We will endeavor to keep you all up-to-date with the latest information and operational developments.

I would like to express my sincere apologies for the inconvenience and disruption that these circumstances will cause.
