NP04: Transportation

How to reach the Tokai Station, where the workshop site "RICOTTI" is located, is explained in the Web page.



Several Web sites provides us with the timetable data of Railways in Japan online (eg., HYPERDIA-timetable).



JR Joban Line, from the Mito Station to the Tokai Station

The accommodations for the participants to NP04 from abroad are reserved in hotels around the station of Mito City. It takes 20 minutes, by a local train on the JR Joban Line for Hitachi City, from the Mito Station to the Tokai Station; Tokai is the 3rd station from Mito (Mito -> Katsuta -> Sawa -> Tokai). The one-way fare is 230 yen.
The local train leaves the Mito Station every 15-20 minutes; please check the departure time of the trains that can reach TOKAI by the start of the workshop (09:00).

JR Joban Line, from Ueno Station in Tokyo to the Mito and Tokai Stations

It takes 100 minutes from the Ueno Station in Tokyo to the Mito and Tokai Stations by an express train on the JR Joban Line, which leaves the Ueno Station every 30-40 minutes. Please note that a limited number of express trains stop at the Tokai Station; if your train does not stop at Tokai, you have to get off at the Mito Station and change to a local train.

Highway Express Bus, from Tokyo Station to the Mito Station or Tokai Station

Bus services (Highway Express Bus, by JRBUSKANTO Co. and Kanto Railway Co.) bound for the area of Mito/Tokai are available from the "Yaesu South Exit" of the Tokyo Station. To go to the Mito Station, take the bus of Mito Line [ from Tokyo to Mito | from Mito to Tokyo ]; To go to the Tokai Station, take the bus of Tokai-Katsuta Line . The one-way way fare is 2,080 yen to Mito / 2,240 yen to Tokai and it takes 120~150 minutes.


Airport Limousine, from the Tokyo-Haneda Airport to the Mito and Tokai Stations

A bus servie (Airport Limousine, by Airport Transport Service Co.) from the Tokyo-Haneda Airport (most of the domestic flights) bound for the Hitachi Station stops at the Mito Station and the Tokai Station. The one-way way fare is 3,500 yen to Mito / 3,700 yen to Tokai and it takes 150~200 minutes.

A seat has to be reserved for the Airport Limousine to the Tokyo-Haneda Airport. Reservation can be made by telephone at the Highway Bus Reservation and Information Center, TEL: 029-232-3820 from 09:00 to 18:00. Rose Liner, from the Tokyo-Narita International Airport to the Mito and Tokai Stations

A bus service (Rose Liner, by Ibaraki Kotsu Co.) from the Tokyo-Narita International Airport (most of the international flights) bound for the Hitachi Station stops at the Mito Station and the Tokai Station. The one-way way fare is 3,000 yen and it takes 100~140 minutes.

A seat has to be reserved for the Rose Liner to the Tokyo-Narita Airport. Reservation can be made at the Highway Bus Reservation and Information Center, TEL: 029-232-3820 from 09:00 to 18:00, or a ticket can be purchased at the "Ibako Tourist" at the bus stop at Mito Station, which is indicated on the map.
