Suspension of user operations at the Neutrino Experimental Facility
Dear J-PARC Users, especially those utilizing the Neutrino Experimental Facility,
We would like to thank you for your continued support of J-PARC's activities.
At around 6:29 AM on Tuesday, March 4, the beam supply from the MR accelerator to the Neutrino Experimental Facility was suspended due to a decrease in the flow rate of helium gas used to cool the neutrino production target.
We are currently investigating the affected equipment. However, in order to determine the exact cause, further inspection inside the helium vessel of the target station is required. As this process is expected to take more than three months, we have decided to suspend beam operations at the Neutrino Experimental Facility in the first half of 2025.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our users. Further updates on the schedule will be provided in due course. We appreciate your understanding.
Sincerely,
Takashi Kobayashi,
Director, J-PARC Center
