Yujiro Ikeda

Director of J-PARC Center
I am honored to be taking over the role of J-PARC Director from our esteemed colleague, Shoji Nagamiya who retired in June. Shoji guided us for more than 6 years: not only through the critical construction phase of the J-PARC project, but also through the rapid restoration period of the damaged facilities following the disaster in March 2011. The successful growth and recovery of J-PARC are greatly attributed to his vision and leadership.

Now in our 4th year as a user facility, J-PARC is moving into a new and exciting phase. As a new flagship facility, we now look forward to supporting leading-edge research throughout the Asia-Oceania region by providing stable, high-intensity particle beams at the highest level of performance and capability.

With applications ranging from fundamental science to industrial R&D, our vision is that J-PARC be a vehicle by which technology is advanced and society is enriched. In addition, it is my aim that J-PARC be recognized around the world as a leading center of research.

I thank you all for your ongoing support as I and the entire J-PARC team endeavor to meet the expectations of our user community and provide world-competitive leadership in science and technology.
