If you are interested in the J-PARC tour, please let us know by e-mail at web-staff[at]j-parc.jp.
Available time: Monday to Friday 9:30-16:30. (except 12:00-13:00)
■ Tour Example
< 1 > Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) 【Average Tour Time: 20 min to 30 min】
MLF is a user facility which provides intense pulsed neutron and muon beams for fundamental research and industrial development across a broad range of fields. MLF produces neutrons and muons by a beam of protons at almost the speed of light, colliding with a target made of mercury or graphite.
< 2 > Neutrino Monitoring Building 【Average Tour Time: 10 min to 15 min】
High-intensity neutrino beams produced at J-PARC are directed towards Super-Kamiokande located at Hida city (Gifu Prefecture), 295 km away from J-PARC. The neutrino beam is monitored using a near detector shown in the photo, to study "neutrino oscillation" in which neutrino change their type in flight, by comparing the observation at the near detector to the one at Super-Kamiokande.
